This Gigabit Ethernet to fiber media converter is a cost-effective way to extend your network, or extend the distance between two devices by up to 20 km (12.4 mi.).
Fiber network connections provide greater distance and security, with less electromagnetic interference (EMI) than typical RJ45 copper-based networks, making it perfect for IT professionals and secure setups in government, business, or educational applications.
Flexible integration into mixed network environments This versatile copper-to-fiber converter supports standalone operation, or alternatively it can be installed into the StarTech.com Rackmount Chassis (ETCHS2U - sold separately), giving you more options for integration into your existing network. The card module can also be inserted back into the ET91000SM20 enclosure, plus it’s compatible with enclosures from other StarTech.com ET91000 series media converters (sold separately).
The converter features a pre-installed Gigabit SFP transceiver with LC connectors. Should your network infrastructure change in the future, you can easily swap and replace the module to adapt the media converter to your new network requirements.
With flexible integration and connectivity up to 20 km away, you can provide network access to remote areas in other buildings, or in areas where Wi-Fi® is unreliable or unavailable.
Rugged and reliable This heavy-duty fiber media converter is designed for maximum reliability. It features a metal (steel) enclosure, so it can withstand the demands of harsh environments such as factories or warehouses.
Plus, by relying on this more durable fiber media converter, you can reduce the strain on your existing copper-based network equipment and potentially extend the life of those devices, which helps save future expenses.
Diagnose and correct issues easily This high-performance media converter supports a range of network setup and diagnostic protocols (for example, Link Fault Passthrough, Auto Laser Shutdown (ALS), and Auto MDIX, so you can set up and troubleshoot your network easily.
Prepare your network for the future If your existing network consists of RJ45 copper-based devices and cables, you might not be ready for future network expansion. Because the newest fiber-based network switches feature SFP ports more often than RJ45 ports, you might need a converter to bridge your copper and fiber networks together.
The ET91000SM20 is backed by a StarTech.com 2-year warranty, and free lifetime technical support.

D-Link’s Gigabit Industrial Unmanaged Media Converter turns an Ethernet connection into fiber, allowing for ultra-fast long distance connections. The DIS-M100G-SW media converter is housed in a highly resistant IP30-rated metal casing to protect the media converter from harsh environmental conditions. Meanwhile, the fanless design extends the life of the DIS-M100G-SW while also being able to operate in a wide temperature range from -40°C up to 70 °C. For increased flexibility, the DIS-M100G-SW can also be mounted on a DIN rail or conveniently mounted on a solid surface wall. In addition, the DIS-M100G-SW supports dual power input which allows for a redundant power supply configuration to make sure the media converter continues to operate in the event of a primary power supply failure.
Extend Your Network Fiber-optic speeds are critical to success, but twisted-pair cabling can only go so far. Using D-Link’s converters you can change a twisted-pair Ethernet connection into a single-mode or multi-mode fiber connection that can go much further. Converters for distances of anywhere from 550 m to 80 km allow you to optimize your selection.
No Wasted Space Its compact size fits anywhere and doesn’t require an entire rack. Measuring just 70 mm wide by 95 mm long by 26.1 mm in depth, with the total volume of one unit just 0.174 liters. This allows for convenient installation wherever it is needed, especially in limited space environments such as telecommunication cabinets or a distribution box.
Plug and Play The media converters offered by D-Link include several industry-standard technologies that make them easy to operate, like 802.3u/x/ab. Auto-MDI/MDIX and Auto-Negotiation makes sure that your cable connection functions at the highest possible speed while remaining compatible. There’s no management software to configure – just simply connect the converter.

This Media Converter can be used by itself or installed in a chassis and converts between 1000BASE-T Gigabit twisted-pair signals to 1000BASE-LX Gigabit single-mode fibre signals.
The DMC-810SC converts 1000BASE-T Gigabit twisted-pair signals to 1000BASE-LX Gigabit single-mode fibre signals. Maximum fibre cable distance is 10 km. 1 RJ-45 port and 1 fibre port (SC type connector) are provided.
The DMC-700SC can be used as stand-alone device or as a module installed in the DMC-1000 chassis. The media converter is housed in a solid metal case and comes with status LEDs and an external AC power adapter. If you install it in the DMC-1000 chassis, remove its metal case and slide its PC board into an open slot in chassis. In this application, the chassis provides power for all media converters inside it, and the media converter’s own external AC power adapter will not be necessary.
